Harvest Moon

Frantic Gardener on Sep 28th 2007

Has now gone, but we are still harvesting. there has ben an abrupt weather change, plunging us into autumn. My thoughts tend towards he clearing and tidying - not that I have had a chance to do it yet.

The grapes are ready - lovely! Loads of peppers and toms still, but only a few aubergines left. Still harvesting some potatoes, though the crop not been so good this year. All the cucurbits a total washout. time for our fab pear harvest too. a few beans sill, bt a bit nippy now

Batch freezing and preserving

HelenHaricot on Sep 5th 2007

Beans all still going strong. Have been batch freezing both french and runner beans for the winter months. We are also eating them every day.

A smattering of carrots and sweetcorn - mostly to keep the girls happy.

Chris harvested pink fir apples today for tea, so potato crop not as good as we would have liked, but at least still there!

oh, and I harvested 2kg of red toms today - so made red tomato chutney - yummy. The first sweet peppers turning red. goody.
