The veg bed - 3 sisters update.

Frantic Gardener on Jul 7th 2006

well, we have managed to get some of the weeding done. the sweetcorn are being a bit wierd. The pollen bit is ready way before the cobs tassles are there to be pollinated, so not holding out a great deal of hope. none of the french beans in the 3 sisters bit seem to have germinatd [luckilly we have some elsewhere!] SOme baby squashlets, which I hope have time to grow.

Your ?squashes? are at about the same stage as our ?courgettes? and look virtually identical ? which makes me wonder am I growing squashes or are you growing courgettes ? or are they so closely related it?s hard to tell them apart?
Plus, your figs look yummy ? I love figs ? maybe I should get a fig plant ? are they easy to grow? I?m guessing you are gardening in the UK? So I might stand a chance ?

    thanks for commenting.
we are in the UK - east anglia. previously in yorkshire - and had a brown turkey fig there too.
these are the squashes, as we also have courgettes - but gold rush, so they have tiny yellow fingers. the plants otherwise do look really similar
